Maximum Students: 10
Minimum Age: 17

Instructor: Chris Emery

Sketch 101 Class will teach students the basics of writing for a sketch comedy show similar to SNL, MadTV, Whitest Kids U Know, and Human Giant. You will learn to take those funny ideas and turn them into a live sketch comedy show. Our sketch writing philosophy is similar to our Improv 101 structure. Students will learn to write sketches with a clear focus and pattern. Students will also learn to pitch their ideas, give feedback, and learn how to do basic staging.

Improv 101 is a recommended prerequisite to Sketch 101, but is not required for enrollment.

NOTE: Students will be required to attend the Secret Handshake Society sketch show at least once while enrolled in this class. Student ID cards are given to students on the first day of class. Comedy School students with a valid student ID may see Open Mic (Sundays & Mondays), Harold Night (Wednesdays), and Cage Match (Thursdays) for FREE, with an option to earn tickets to weekend shows. Your ID will also permit a one-time free entry to the Secret Handshake Society show for your class requirement.

Class space is limited and reservations are final. No refunds.
