The seventh-annual Sacramento Stand-Up Competition will be held Thursday, July 25 through Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Sacramento Comedy Spot. You will never see so much talent in one place, during one weekend, on one stage.

Comedians from around the country, and beyond, will be competing for a $1,000 grand prize, $500 second-place prize, and $250 third-place prize.

The Sacramento Stand-Up Competition is one of the most exclusive stand-up competitions in the United States. Supremely focused on the participant experience, it provides contestants a fun and supportive environment, food, drinks, and, for the first time ever, a small travel stipend to help defer the cost of traveling. Only 24 comedians were invited to participate in this year’s event, reduced from previous years, which increases their chances of winning. The competition is also an opportunity for comedians to test their skills outside their home towns, to network with other comedians, and to perform in one of the best comedy cities in the U.S. To see a full list of competition participants click here.

In addition to the 24 competitors we also have three former Competition winners performing this year. The event weekend begins with the Competition Tailgate Showcase on Thursday, July 25 at 8:00PM, featuring Krista Fatka, the 2017 Sac Stand-Up Competition winner, and headliner Stuart Thompson, who is preparing for his album recording later this year.

Kiry Shabazz, winner of the 2016 Competition and who recently made his television debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, is headlining the Competition Showcase at 7:00PM on Saturday, July 27. This showcase is hosted by Benton Harshaw and will feature favorites from the preliminary round who did not make the finals in addition to local comedians.

Saul Trujillo, winner of the 2018 Sacramento Stand-Up Competition, will headline the competition finals on Saturday, July 27, at 9:00PM.

Three competition preliminary rounds are scheduled for 8:00PM, 9:00PM, and 10:00PM on Friday, July 26. The five comedians with the best scores across all preliminary rounds will advance. These finalists will be announced Friday, at the end of the 10:00PM show.

Individual show tickets are on sale now and range in price from $12 to $20. Patrons may also purchase a 2019 all-access weekend pass for $45, which includes admission to all six shows. Day passes for Friday or Saturday are $30.
