Donate to the Foundation

Sacramento Comedy Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation (47-3441374). In addition to operating Sacramento Comedy Spot, the foundation supports the local comedy community and partners with other local charities to help them raise money through comedy show fundraisers. The foundation also operates a youth improv program and creates comedy-related events, like the Sacramento Stand-Up Competition and Sacramento Comedy Festival, that draw comedians and comedy fans to Sacramento.

Sacramento Comedy Foundation is committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion at all levels of our organization, at our events, on our stage, and throughout Sacramento. To further that cause, Sacramento Comedy Foundation offers scholarships for comedy classes at the Comedy Spot and for the youth program, awarded to those who have been historically underrepresented and for whom money is a barrier.

On a day-to-day basis, we strive to bring new comedy-related programs, opportunities, and events to Sacramento. When you donate, you provide us with resources to expand and thrive.

How your support can make a difference:

Sacramento Comedy Spot Improvements

Thanks to you, we have been able to replace our theater chairs, upgrade the green room, update the stage ramps and stage facade, paint the interior of the showroom, add awesome photo collages to the walls, and add some lighting to the windows. Previous contributions have allowed us to obtain our outdoor marquee and an upgraded sound and light system. With your help, we would like add some barn doors to the green room and update the bathroom.

Comedy Spot Training Center

The training center opened in November 2017 as our main location for classes, workshops, and meetings. We still have work to do to make everyone feel welcome and at home. Needs include replacing doors, painting, adding more exterior lights, signage, replacement windows, curtains, and general landscaping.

Youth Improv Program

Thanks to you, we were able to launch our Youth Improv Program in January 2018. We want to expand the program’s reach to offer on-campus workshops at schools in Sacramento. To achieve this, we need to develop curriculum, screen and train instructors, reach out to schools, and obtain insurance.

A New Location

Our long-term goal is relocation. The Comedy Spot will remain at its 20th Street address until 2023. Prior to our lease expiration, would like to purchase our own building. It is our ultimate goal to have one facility that can house all of our operations under one roof. This includes offices, the Comedy Spot theater showroom, an expanded bar and possible restaurant, a smaller, secondary stage, classroom, collaboration rooms, a green room next to the stage, and a professional tech booth.

Comedy Spot Performer Festival Stipends

Sacramento Comedy Spot hosts some of the most unique and hilarious shows and is home to some of the most talented comedians in the United States. We want to support this talent by helping with travel expenses for these shows and comedians to attend festivals throughout the country. We want to show everyone that Sacramento and the Comedy Spot are incubators for talent.

Sacramento Stand-Up Competition & Sacramento Comedy Festival Travel Stipends

Each year, we bring some of the best improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy groups from across the country to perform at the Comedy Spot during the Sacramento Stand-Up Competition and Sacramento Comedy Festival. In 2019, we want to bring even more groups and some headlining acts to these events. Participants usually shoulder 100% of the cost associated for participating. If we can help pay for their travel, we will be able to bring more of the best of the best to Sacramento.

Every little bit counts. After completing this form, you will be taken to the Sacramento Comedy Foundation PayPal page to complete your transaction.

Sacramento's Nonprofit Comedy Theater

The Comedy Spot is a program of Sacramento Comedy Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. Since 2005, our goals have been to support comedians, support our community, and make people laugh by producing the best-quality shows in Sacramento. We are Sacramento’s first comedy club to feature improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy shows, with performances six nights a week, and we are Northern California’s largest comedy school.

Help us create a better community through laughter!
