Effective August 2, 2021, all audience members, performers, employees, and volunteers must be fully vaccinated (at least two weeks past the final dose) and masked. Proof of vaccination* and photo ID are required for admission. Performers are not required to wear masks while on stage.
*Vaccination status may be presented in the form of original CDC card, photocopy, or digital record obtained from the CA Department of Public Health at
myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov or your healthcare provider.

What types of shows can I see at the Comedy Spot?

Sacramento Comedy Spot features a wide variety of comedic styles, including improv and sketch comedy formats made famous in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, as well as stand-up comedy. Our stage is home to many local celebrity and amateur performers, and hosts national headlining acts on occasion. Please check our calendar for upcoming shows and events.

Is there an age minimum to see a show at the Comedy Spot?

There is no minimum age requirement to see shows at the Comedy Spot, though our club, shows, and content are geared towards those ages 17+. Our shows should be considered PG13 or R-rated.

What is the seating configuration in the theater?

The Comedy Spot showroom is general admission row seating, no tables, with a capacity of 80. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

How long are your shows?

With the exeption of special events, 8pm and 10:30pm shows run approximately 50 minutes. Our 9pm headlining shows run a little over an hour to an hour-and-a-half.

How do I receive my show/event tickets?

The Comedy Spot does not issue physical tickets for shows and events. When purchasing online, you can opt for electronic ticketing via text or email. Both options will generate a QR code that can be scanned at the door. The name tickets are purchased under will also be on a will-call list at the box office when you arrive.

What is your photo/video policy for shows?

Unless otherwise specified for a national act, all Comedy Spot shows are able to be photographed and recorded, for personal use, only. Using social media? Use hashtag #saccomedyspot to share with our community! If you are interested in commercial use of captured media, please contact us prior to attending.

Is the Comedy Spot wheelchair accessible?

The Comedy Spot is ADA compliant, with wheelchair access available at all entrances, and including the stage.

Do you accept credit cards?

We do accept all major credit cards online, at our box office, and at our bar. Go to our calendar and click on the show you want to see for a description and the option to buy tickets in advance.

Do you serve food or alcohol? Do you have a drink minimum?

We serve beer, featuring a great selection of local and craft brews. In addition, we sell small snacks, soda, water, and candy at the bar, along with Comedy Spot merchandise. We have NO drink or item minimum purchase requirements. Sacramento Comedy Spot is located inside the MARRS building, which hosts an array of restaurants. Visit our neighbors before or after shows. Where are you located, and where do I park?

We are located in Midtown’s MARRS building, at 1050 20th Street, Suite 130, in Sacramento (between J and K streets). Metered street parking is available all around the Comedy Spot. Please be mindful of varied time restrictions in different locations. Some are free after 6pm. There is also a parking garage open to the public on the weekends on 20th Street between K and L Streets. Do you offer group sales?

We love large groups! Please contact laugh@saccomedyspot.com in advance of the show you are interested in attending.

Can I rent the Comedy Spot venue for my event?

We no longer rent the theater or training center for external projects or events.

Can I hire Comedy Spot performers for my event?

We have shows at the Comedy Spot five nights a week, including weekends, so our performance troupes are generally not available for outside events. If you have opportunities for individuals, we would be happy to pass along your information so they may work with you directly. Please email tina@saccomedyspot.com to get in touch.

Do you offer team-building or workshop group sessions?

The Comedy Spot no longer hosts team building or workshop group sessions, but we know someone who does! Betsaida LeBron is a performer with the Comedy Spot who does just that sort of thing with ImprovEQ. Please send any emails or inquiries directly to that organization: contact@improvEQ.org

How do I get booked to perform stand-up?

All of our stand-up comedy events are handled internally. We currently do not accept unsolicited bookings.

Do you have an open mic?

We have an open mic every Tuesday at 8pm. If you would like to perform, please be at the Comedy Spot 30 minutes before show time to sign up with the host. Each comedian gets 5 minutes and DOES NOT have to pay for the show. Comedians who bring a paying audience member will get on stage first. Read about our performer guidelines here.

How can I perform in an improv show at the Comedy Spot?

We only allow performers who have taken our improv classes to perform in our house improv shows. You must complete Improv 101Improv 201, and Improv 301 to be considered for a spot on one of our Improv Wednesdays teams. We cast all of our main stage shows from these performers. To be considered for our in-house sketch program, you must take Sketch 101.

What types of classes to you offer?

We offer long-form improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy classes and online writing and games courses. Go to our Comedy School page for descriptions and start dates.

I have taken improv classes elsewhere. Where do I start?

All listed prerequisites for advanced-level classes must be completed prior to registration. Every comedy school approaches their curriculum and philosophy differently. It is important, and beneficial, for you and your classmates to have the same level of Comedy Spot training and vocabulary. To begin your training with us, start at Improv 101.

Do you offer refunds on classes or shows?

There are no refunds on classes or shows. Class space is limited and reservations are final. Should you need to transfer to another start date, please contact us.
