What types of shows can I see at the Comedy Spot?
The Sacramento Comedy Spot features a wide variety of comedic styles, including improv and sketch comedy formats made famous in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, as well as stand-up comedy. Our stage is home to many local celebrity and amateur performers, and often hosts national headlining acts. Please check our calendar for upcoming shows and events. Is there an age minimum to see a show at the Comedy Spot?
There is no minimum age requirement to see shows at the Comedy Spot, though our club, shows, and content are geared towards those ages 17+. Our shows should be considered PG13 or R-rated.
What is your photo/video policy for shows?
Unless otherwise specified for a national act, all Comedy Spot shows are able to be photographed and recorded, for personal use, only. Using social media? Use hashtag #saccomedyspot to share with our community! If you are interested in commercial use of captured media, please contact us prior to attending.
Is the Comedy Spot wheelchair accessible?
The Comedy Spot is ADA compliant, with wheelchair access available at all entrances, and including the stage.
Do you accept credit cards?
We do accept all major credit cards. You can buy tickets in advance for most shows online. Go to our calendar and click on the show you want to see for a description and the option to buy tickets in advance.
Do you serve food or alcohol?
WE SERVE BEER, small snacks, soda, water, and candy at the bar, along with Comedy Spot merchandise. We have NO drink or item minimum purchase requirements. Sacramento Comedy Spot is located inside the MARRS building, which hosts an array of restaurants. Visit our neighbors before or after shows. Where are you located, and where do I park?
We are located in Midtown’s MARRS building, 1050 20th Street, Suite 130, in Sacramento (between K and L streets). Metered street parking (FREE after 6pm) is available in front of, and all around, the Comedy Spot. There is also a parking garage open to the public on the weekends on 20th Street between J and K Streets.
Do you offer group sales?
We love large groups! We offer discounts for most of our Friday and Saturday main stage shows with an online purchase of 8 or more tickets. Coupon codes are listed in the description of each applicable show. We have a wide variety of improv, stand-up, and sketch comedy shows. Before booking a large group for a performance, we encourage you to come by and see a desired show on your own. We might even offer a free ticket for you to sample a show and be sure it is the right fit for your group.
Can I rent the Comedy Spot venue for my event?
We do rent the Comedy Spot, during the day only, for meetings and other events. Please email email@example.com if you are interested in renting the Comedy Spot.
Can I hire Comedy Spot performers for my event?
We do offer a touring troupe of improv performers for off-site events. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in a show.
Do you offer team-building or workshop group sessions?
We do offer basic-skill improv workshops for groups, which can be held at our venue or yours. They are a great team-building opportunity, and encourage listening, public speaking, collaboration, and quick-thinking skills. Please email email@example.com if you are interested in a booking. How do I get booked to perform?
All of our stand-up comedy events are handled internally. We currently do not accept unsolicited bookings.
Do you have an open mic?
We have an open mic two nights a week, every Sunday and Monday (8PM). If you would like to perform, please be at the Comedy Spot 30 minutes before show time. Each comedian gets 5 minutes and DOES NOT have to pay for the show. Comedians who bring a paying audience member will get on stage first.
How can I perform in an improv show at the Comedy Spot?
We only allow performers who have taken our improv classes to perform in our improv shows. You must complete Improv 101, Improv 201, and Improv 301 to be considered for a developmental team (Gordon Team) which supports our Harold Teams. We cast all of our main stage shows from Harold performers. To be considered for our in-house sketch program, you must take Sketch 101.

I have taken improv classes elsewhere. Where do I start?
Every improv theater has a different style of play. It is important that you learn our style to be successful in shows at the Comedy Spot. Start at Improv 101.
