Sketch 101 will teach students the basics of writing, creating, and performing in sketch comedy shows similar to SNL, MadTV, Whitest Kids U Know, and Human Giant. You will learn to take those funny ideas and turn them into a live sketch comedy show. Our sketch philosophy is similar to our Improv philosophy- students will learn to create sketches with a clear focus and pattern using a variety of methods. At the completion of this class students will have a fundamental understanding of how sketch comedy shows are created and staged.

Improv 101 is a recommended prerequisite to Sketch 101, but is not required for enrollment.

NOTE: Students will be required to attend the Squad Patrol sketch show at least once while enrolled in this class. Student ID cards are given to students on the first day of class. Comedy School students with a valid student ID may see Open Mic (Sundays & Mondays), Harold Night (Wednesdays), and Cage Match (Thursdays) for FREE, with an option to earn tickets to weekend shows. Your ID will also permit a one-time free entry to the Squad Patrol show for your class requirement.
